15 Questions To Get To Know More About Our Attending Authors
1. What’s your favorite candy/snack/food while writing?
Pickles. Is that weird? I could eat like a hundred pickles while writing and not even realize it. At least it’s healthier than chocolate!
2. Who is your favorite music artist?
I have a few and it mostly depends on my mood. I love the Heartless Bastards and Haim. Regina Spektor. But lately I’ve been on this insane Harry Styles kick. Like I don’t know what happened, but this kid from One Direction has hooked me. He’s so cute. That hair. That smile!
3. If you could time travel, where would you go?
Woodstock in 1969. I think the people who attended that concert believed peace was possible and just wanted to love one another. I don’t think it was a gimmick—and I’d like to go exist in that feeling for a few days.
4. What do you like to do on a rainy day?
Write. Shocking, I know. But it’s so much easier to write when I have no guilt about being indoors when it’s nice outside. It’s like a free pass to light some candles and hunker down in my office.
5. What is your pet peeve(s)?
When people hand me a phone to talk to someone on the other end—and I wasn’t expecting it. My husband does it all the time. “Here, talk to my mom.” I’m not a phone person! Stop the madness.
6. When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
I drink wine; maybe go to a movie by myself. Or go browse the romance novel section at Barnes and Noble. Or all three. Going out to lunch with my husband is also something I do because it forces me to get away from the computer.
7. If you had to change your name, what would your new name be, and why would you choose that name?
I have always loved names that can work for both sexes. Like Billie or Danny. I’m not sure why, but I would change it to something like that. Maybe it would make me seem cooler. LOL.
8. What’s your biggest screw up in the kitchen?
I can’t think of anything too crazy, but recently my daughter wanted to bake cookies for her soccer coaches. I added an extra egg and they were like, a gloppy, disgusting mess. I don’t even think they wanted to accept them. Ugh.
9. Would you rather bungee jump or skydive?
Neither one. I’m vehemently opposed to both activities. I made plans to go skydiving when I was eighteen and about a week before, I realized I was absolutely terrified. I’ll get my thrills elsewhere, thank you very much!
10. What is your favorite type of Hero? Heroine?
My favorite heroes are pouty man bear-types. Gruff, a little brash, broody. Big and bearded with bellies. My favorite heroines are strong and positive with level heads and good senses of humor.
11. What is your favorite movie?
The Princess Bride. A Bronx Tale. The Sandlot. Sleepless in Seattle. Bridesmaids. Silver Lining’s Playbook.
12. Who is your celebrity crush?
The Mountain from Game of Thrones. I love big, scary dudes with bad attitudes and body hair. Straight up. And on the faaaaar opposite end of the spectrum, I am now nursing a crush on Thomas Middleditch from the HBO show Silicon Valley. I don’t know why. He’s just so funny and goofy. Maybe it’s more of a mom crush.
13. What is your biggest phobia?
Serial killers. I pretty much assume everyone is a serial killer until they prove otherwise. This is a side effect of watching too much true crime on television.
14. What word or words do you not like to read in a book?
Juices. I’m not judging anyone who uses that word, but personally, I picture the kind of juices that pool on your plate beneath a steak. But who knows? Maybe someday I’ll read it in a book and it’ll strike me as hot. Just not today! LOL.
15. What is one thing about you that would surprise us?
I write emotional stories, but in real life, emotional scenes among real people make me super uncomfortable. I avoid them at all costs!
