Our blog focuses on romance books and authors. What you can expect from us (Grace, Michelle, YaYa, Ivy, Rachel, Tammy and Miri) are honest reviews. We have our author favorites, and even those won’t always get 5 stars from us. Any book we read that is below 3 stars, won’t be posted on this site – we are not into author bashing. We are here to recommend books to our followers. End of story.
SHORTIES APPROVED – What does that mean? We’ll if you follow us on social media, we refer to ourselves as the Shorties, and any book that gets this stamp, has received 5 stars from more than one Shortie. A MUST READ according to us. ; )
Just like a lot of bloggers, I seriously got into reading from 50 Shades. Didn’t help that my favorite hockey team, my other passion, had a horrible season that year. So rather than stress myself out watching them play like shit, I turned to reading as my escape from the RL. Desperate to find more books like 50 Shades, I started following several blogs, one being SMIBookClub.com and quickly became Twitter friends with the site’s founder, Juewelz. After going on and on about Woods Kerringon, she asked me to be a guest reviewer. My first review was his book, Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines, and the rest is history. I quickly went from a causal book reader, to a slight obsessed book reader. I have TBR lists, book schedules, and on and on. Last year I read about 200 books and I’m on target to read that many this year as well.
I have a full time job and a family to keep me busy. But reading bookends (he he) my day. One of the first things I do in the morning is read, with the bulk of my reading taking place “After Dark” when my family has gone to bed.
As the creater and reviewer for the blog, my posts will be 95% focused on romance books, but on occasion, I may review a non-romance book. I like most romance genres, with my favorite being Romantic Suspense. This might have to do with my previous book interests; Michael Crichton was *sobs* by favorite writer. So any book that layers in suspense with the smut always ranks high on my list. The only romance genres I won’t likely review on this site would by YA and Historical Romance. Not there is anything wrong with those books, they just aren’t my preference.
Know in the human world as “Yaya”, and really, that’s pretty much what matters. I love dark reads, I’m talking Hade’s soul dark, that’s my stuff. You can’t fathom the amount of fucks I don’t give. My sweat smells of sarcasm and odd shit. Give me drama and I’ll give you shit.

SIDE NOTE FROM GRACE: YaYa will be managing the blog’s Instagram account, with the occasional review.
I have always loved to read, especially romance novels. I have read some John Grisham and John Patterson, but my love for romance (and smut) is my genre. It all started with Harlequin romances, then when I wanted something spicer, anything from Ellora’s Cave. Then two years ago, my reading went on overdrive due to Fifty Shades of Grey. I was going through such emotional roller coaster and I lost myself in Fifty Shades. So of course, I enter the Twitter world full scale and discussed this book.
Moving forward while discussing books with others on Twitter, I meet YaYa and Grace. We have had many book buddy reads and love to argue about our BBFs.
In RL, I am a hardworking mom by day and love reading every second, minute hour.
I am very honest with my reviews and will never bash an author. I can curse a lot as well, so I hope I do not offend anyone. So come take the journey with me and my girls to our After Dark Book Lovers. You won’t regret it.

I’d like to thank Grace for inviting me, and YaYa and Michelle for welcoming me into the AfterDark fold.
I read A LOT of romance books. Like tons. Like Amazon checks in with me if I haven’t bought any in a couple of days kind of addiction. On the rare occasion I’m not reading, I’m playing with my dog, knitting or hanging with my very understanding hubby while we watch hockey, baseball or Game of Thrones (and Outlander, though he’s not as into it as I am).
Anyway, I’m all about romance, in all its forms, from tricked out bikers to sweet, sweet doctors, I love it all. Well, mostly. I’m the light to YaYa’s dark – seriously, I’d rather laugh than cry, so I’m all about the funny in my romance.
If you have a shifting, ex-Navy Seal/MMA fighter/tattoo artist who stars in a rock band in his spare time, I’ll probably read your book. Silly, action-filled, dirty, smutty sex helps too.
For serious, I will always be straight up in my reviews, but as respectful as possible.

Reading is not just a hobby for me. It’s an obsession. When I was younger I used to go to the library for fun. From 6th grade and all the way through high school I went to the library every Wednesday and picked out 3 books. I read everything from Stephen King to Danielle Steele, Cormac McCarthy to Elmore Leonard, Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, The Godfather, crap I’m too ashamed to admit I read, and everything in between.
Through the power of social media, I found these wonderful ladies and I no longer had to sit by myself in my own corner of the library reading my books. I found people I could share my love of reading with, and I found Grace, the person who convinced me to start reviewing in the first place. So thank you, Grace!
Although I still read just about anything, I mainly review romance, preferably dark erotica or romantic suspense. The darker the better. The first book I remember being obsessed with was V.C. Andrew’s Flowers in the Attic which probably explains my messed up taste in books
I’m not married but I have many great loves…my dog, my books, my tv, my iPad, Søren, Cherry Coke and most importantly my spirit animal Batman. Always Batman.

Hey, Hey, Hey!
Obviously I love to read; “Have books will travel!” (My Kindle app has eased the pain of sitting at red lights, the check-out line, doctor offices and more.) For me, reading is an escape into a story that lets me drift away for a short period of time, something that we all need once in a while, and in some cases every day. I like reading various genres but if it’s too farfetched or extremely mushy, it’s not for me. I am keen to dark reads, erotica and MC books. Only one author has made me ugly cry (well done Tiffany Reisz – my Queen). I want to be on the edge of my seat when reading, either from angst or laughter, you know it’s a good book when you are either shaking your Kindle or snorting (my poor Kindle).
Some of my other interests are (mini dating form here); anything pertaining to the UK (Anglophile in the house!), music, traveling, art, museums, photography, laughter, sarcasm, being real, tattoos, random facts, Doctor Who (10 is my Doctor) and The Golden Girls.
I look forward to giving my perception on books I review with you! Get your read on!

Miri…lover of fashion, makeup, models and all things Joseph Cannata. When I’m not slaving at work, you can find me on a romance cloud. I do enjoy a dark, twisted, kinky read as well and my Book BFs don’t all have to be human. I run God_Sendmodels and I’m stuck with Yaya as a partner on our ladies page God_Sendmodels2. Oh, I’m also now the shortest of The Shorties.

Meet Bookalicious Babes Blog
Six book besties who promote romances we read and love…one book at a time
I’m a Southern gal from Virginia and military wife who calls many places home: Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Germany. Also, I’m blessed to be a stay-at-home mama to my four littles. In November 2014, I decided to quit my corporate marketing manager/writer job of many years and at many Fortune 100 companies to stay at home with my children. Needing more to do at home after just a few days, I started Bookalicious Babe Blog (BBB), which marries my love of romance books, marketing background, and writing expertise.
My favorite part of blogging is the amazing book world I’m blessed to call ‘home’ where bookworms are my people— starting with my terrific team of five babes beautiful both on the inside and outside. These five gals I recruited started as bookworms but quickly became friends and family. I don’t usually go a day without messaging or talking with one or more of the Babes. Without these five lovely ladies, BBB would not exist, and I would not have gained these wonderful women in my life. We are family at BBB, and our team motto is: “Family always comes first.”
The hardest part of blogging for me is all of the hours and time spent maintaining the blog—keeping up with messages, emails, group member approvals, and posts. Sometimes it’s also difficult to keep up with my to read pile of advanced reader copies (ARCs) when life gets in the way of reading or all of my ARCs arrive at nearly the same time.
A big part of blogging is obviously reading. My love of reading began as a young child with classics like Cinderella, Ferdinand, Where the Red Fern Grows and more. As a teen I read V.C. Andrews forbidden or twisted stories, and snuck my mama’s Danielle Steel books to read, starting my love of romance books. Not much later, I fell in love with Sylvia Day and Maya Bank’s writing. Finally, my reading progressed at an even faster rate after my date with the Twilight series in July 2012 followed immediately by Fifty Shades of Grey, both series devoured each in two days.
Reading is my ‘me time.’ It’s my time to unwind. An escape from reality, reading is a venture into a new world, and sometimes meet new authors. My favorite books to read are contemporary, erotic, dark, fighter, and rocker romances. Most often I read on my kindle in bed or on the couch and sometimes in the car—wherever I can sneak in a few pages. I may or may not be hoarding ~1000 books on my kindle. I’m also a hoarder of signed books and own 100s of signed pretties on my shelves that are my other ‘babies.’
My dream for BBB is to continue our growth of a blog that is a fun, loved and trusted venue where authors and fans stop for their daily dose of romance reads, reviews. Be a team and blog where authors can count on us for full support of their wonderful work.
I’m from a little place called North Lincolnshire in the UK. I’m a fully qualified Senior Support Worker for people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health illnesses. I’ve been doing this job for 7 years now. It’s tough, but I love it. I’m a single mum to my beautiful little lady who is my life.
My BBB journey started in March 2015 and quite honestly it’s been one of the most amazingly stressful experiences of my life and I wouldn’t change one single bit of it. My passion for reading has always been strong, even from being little, but in joining BBB I found a bigger purpose to reading, my passion grew and I garnered more respect for authors and what they do.
The best part of blogging to me is being able to help the authors we support, just being a tiny part of their journey is a true blessing to me.
I’m also blessed that I’m blogging with five of the BEST women out there. My fellow book Babes are now family to me and I adore each and every one of them.
Blogging can also come with its bad parts. It’s HARD sometimes. I wish, as I’m sure all the Babes do that I could do this full time. It would be wonderful to be able to help every single author out there but it’s just not possible.
I have a huge passion for reading. Romance/erotica is my thing, however, I’m not a fan of historical or paranormal genres but I like Twilight so go figure! I think Fifty Shades truly bought me further into loving this genre and opened up this amazing indie book world to me.
My dream for BBB is to keep doing what we’re doing. BBB upholds the highest, professional standards and truly works hard to do the best and most we can for our authors. We will continue to do this for as long as we are able.
I am from west Texas and work with kids and adults with special needs, which I’ve been doing for 12 years. I enjoy reading all types of books and love life.
My favorite thing about blogging is all the authors I have met and get to engage with on a daily basis, and also all the wonder book babes I have met along the way!
The hardest thing about blogging is that you want to read and support so many authors but that ARC pile gets so long and sometimes you can’t take on so many—no matter how badly you want to help.
Reading has always been my escape plus it gives me an excuse to have as many book boyfriends as I want without cheating… lol. It is also my way to just relax after a hard day’s work.
My dream for BBB to that we continue to grow as bloggers but also as a family.
I’m a born and raised Mississippi girl but finding the love of my life brought me to North Carolina. I have been here since 1994. After college, I worked for the Department of Social Services for nine years. Since 2015, I have been a stay at home mom to two fantastic little boys. After being in the work force for so long, it was quite the adjustment to being at home. Luckily, the blog has given me a great outlet to connect with other avid readers just like me.
I joined BBB in August 2015. I count myself as very blessed to be a part of this absolutely brilliant group of women. From the beginning I was welcomed with open arms. I was made to feel like family and that my opinions and input were valuable and important. The six of us come from all walks of life and from all corners of the world but together we make a truly amazing team. It is the very best part of being a blogger – the fantastic comradery and shared love of books and the authors who give us those stories that turn our worlds upside down.
The toughest part of being a blogger is of course, time. Finding time to get through that ever growing stack of arcs. Time to check in on all the authors that we support to make sure that there’s nothing that we’ve missed or anything that we can do to help promote the newest release. Time to check the mail, answer questions and interact with our members. Being a blogger, a wife and a mommy is a balancing act. I’ve had to learn – sometimes the hard way – that are times when it’s best to stop, step back from the books and the blog and regroup. The wonderful thing about this group is the understanding that bottom line our families always come first.
Reading romance has always been my outlet and my escape. It all started with an old Harlequin that my aunt brought home from work. I have been obsessed since. It has been a pleasure to find new authors to add to my always growing to be read list and indulge in the authors that I have always loved. I enjoy them all from contemporary, to historical, to erotic and everything in between.
My dream and highest hope for BBB is that we continue to bring amazing authors and their stories to a growing audience of new readers.
I’m a born and raised Baltimore girl. I am a registered nurse that specializes in critical care. I am a veteran of the US ARMY where I became a vet tech. I did that for 10 years before I became a nurse. I am a mommy to a 10 year boy. I also have enough animals to probably be a certified zoo..lol.
My favorite part of being a blogger is all of the wonderful people I have met. I’ve met authors I wouldn’t have otherwise come across. I feel like I have a new family in my book babes at Bookalicious Babes Blog. We are a very close knit group and have no problems helping each other out. I feel blessed to be a part of a team as great as mine. I love reading and have an open mind to all genres but especially love paranormal, fighters and military men.
The hardest part of being a blogger is finding time to keep up with my arc pile. Also, having to turn down new requests because I will never be completely caught up with the ones I already have. You want to help everyone but quickly learn that is just not possible. I wish I could help everyone, but life gets in the way.
I loved reading in middle and high school but then after joining the military and beginning to work full time, I didn’t really think about it anymore. That all changed when Twilight came out. I read that series more times than I can count. It really got me back I to the swing and from there I started reading like crazy.
My dream for BBB is that we continue to work our hardest to bring you the best romance reads we can find. I hope that we continue to grow and foster great friendships with authors and readers alike.
I was born in Oklahoma, but raised in Texas. I am Texan through and through. I am a US Air Force veteran of 11 years. Now, I am a stay at home mom of 3 beautiful little girls, I’m engaged, and we have technically 4 dogs, but only 1 is mine.
I love blogging! It has become a huge part of my life since I’m not working. I love the girls with whom I blog. They’ve become close friends and I adore them. I love meeting new authors and reading new books. I love being able to share my love of books with people who love to read just as much as I do.
The hardest part about blogging for me is trying to manage the many ARCs I have to read and the time I have to do them in. It’s hard, and sometimes doable, but other times you just have to bite the bullet and realize, you can’t do it all as fast as you would like.
I fell in love with reading, believe it or not, when I was in my early 20’s. I never really liked reading much, and I think it’s because I never found that one book that would grab and hold my attention. I was at work and two of my co-workers who kept going on and on about this book…..EVERY DAY! I kept telling them, “nope, I’m not going to read it, you guys are obsessed.” After about 2 weeks of the same conversations I finally relented. I said, “Fine, give me the first book and I’ll read it.” That book, was Twilight! I read that book in one sitting, went to the store and bought the whole set, and never looked back! That’s where my love of reading began.
Reading for me is an escape. An escape from reality no matter how I’m feeling. I love diving into another world and “living” there for hours on end sometimes. I love reading and all genres. My favorite genres are paranormal, dark romance, contemporary romance, dystopian….who am I kidding? When I said I loved all genres, I wasn’t kidding! I just LOVE BOOKS!
My dream for BBB is to continue to grow in followers, and continue to advertise books that people will love and enjoy just as much as we do.
